Energy efficiency in buildings
What is energy efficiency in buildings?
The new law building, Código Técnico de la Edificación and Real Decreto 47/2007, require all the new buildings to have a rating on the energy performance of buildings. As in the appliances, this characteristic is a very important quality when we buy a house because it informs us if the building has good energy behaviour or if the electricity bill or gas will rise much in the future. nergy efficient houses can save up to 40% of the costs in the electricity and gas bills and contribute to the sustainability of our environment.
Is it obligatory?
Yes. Since 2009, all new buildings built on sail are obliged to have its energy rating. And from 2010, it will be required for all existing buildings. The aim is that in a few short years all existing buildings indicate the energy qualities.
When and who should seek the energy rating of buildings?
When you are looking to buy a house, do not forget to ask the seller or promoter the energy rating of the building. They are required to sign it, and it will be a clear and valuable data to determine the quality of the product you want to buy.
How is the building label?
The energy of the buildings is indicated with a chart labelled as the figure. Buildings with A rating are the most energy efficient and with G rating are the least.
In this label we can find an estimation of the annual energy consumption (in kWh/year) and the amount of CO2 (in KgCO2/year).
