Joint negotiation and management of power supplies
Since 1998, when it began the gradual process of liberalization of the Spanish energy market, this sector has experienced substantial changes aimed at achieving a free market where consumers can choose the company supplier of energy (electricity and natural gas) and negotiate the rates.
This new situation concerns the city councils from 1 July 2008 (Order ITC 1857/2008, 3801/2008 ITC, ITC 3802/2008), where the consumers with High voltage contracts must acquire the energy directly through a trading company. From July 2009 (RD 485/2009 of 3 April) consumers with a low voltage power exceeding 10 kW must also contract the energy supply directly to a trading company.
The Energy Agency of la Ribera offers to represent the municipalities of la Ribera to the local trading of several energy suppliers in order to achieve a reduction in the rates contracted and so in the energy bills.
