Sustainable Transport Plan of the Industrial Area of Alzira

The Energy Agency of Ribera has made in the last months the Sustainable Transport Plan of the Industrial Area of Alzira. The study aims to improve accessibility to the industrial park, promoting more sustainable modes of transport.
The plan includes proposals as improving the road network, improving public transport bus lines and improving access to walking and cycling in the industrial area.
With all these proposals, the plan aims to improve the accessibility of the industrial zone and increase its sustainability avoiding traffic jams that occur on the road.

The 'walking bus' school starts in L'Alcúdia

During the days 16th, 19th, 20th and 21th September children in L'Alcúdia have gone to school with the 'walking bus', an initiative of the Energy Agency of La Ribera to promote travel on foot from home to school.

In this way, the students have made the journey to school on foot and in groups according to the Safety Routes to School with corresponding stops and schedules, always accompanied by adults. Representatives of the City, the local police, teachers, parents of students and technicians from the AER accompaigned this special and environmental bus.

Energy Agency of the Bank participates in a new European project to improve the energy efficiency of air conditioning equipment

Energy Agency of la participates in the MOVIDA project, an initiative promoted by the European Commission involving 8 partners from other European countries. The project, to be applied in the municipalities of la Ribera, aims to carry out inspections at 650 facilities of heating and air conditioning in residential and tertiary sectors in order to increase energy efficiency and reduce emissions of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. This will form 20 installers, who, during the operation and maintenance operations will assess the energy efficiency of equipments and advise users on the most efficient options.
This project will bring the new European directive on energy efficiency in buildings installers of air conditioning equipment. The end user will also benefit by applying the tools developed on its own facilities.
Last May 27 was held in the Italian city of Bologna, the first meeting of the project, which established the basis of it and the lines to follow in the coming months.

Exchange of experiences of the European project Active Access in l'Alcudia

During the 12th and 13th of May took place in La Alcudia a meeting of the European project partners Active Access. This project involves the Energy Agency of la Ribera and the city of L'Alcudia. The meeting was attended by a representative of the Croatian city of Koprivnica to see the actiosn in relation to sustainable mobility that is being developed in this area. The Active Access project aims to promote walking and cycling as sustainable transport focussing on two main activities: local businesses and safe school routes. During the visit, technicians from the Agency and representatives of the City of L'Alcudia showed the different activities being undertaken in the project. Thus, presenting the city's pedestrian zones, bike paths and the steps taken in the commercial area. During the visit, a tour of the safety routes was organized. The safety routes are marked with signs of attractive colors to make walking in a funny way the children. In addition, the City Council will paint the crosswalks, sidewalks will be repaired and some will be expanded a part of other actions to increase the safety of school routes. The experience was positive, allowing the two partners exchange ideas on sustainable mobility.

Energy Agency of Ribera with the IES Els Évols participate in an international championship of students

Energy Agency of Ribera with the IES Els de l'Alcúdia Évols attended the EYEManager championship awards ceremony. This project is an initiative financed by the European Commission that aims at raising awareness among students on issues of energy conservation and efficiency both at school and in their own homes. This event took place during 16 and 17 February in the Italian city of Umbertide. The ceremony was attended by 200 participants including students, teachers and technicians from energy agencies from 9 countries (Bulgaria, Slovenia, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Poland, Sweden, Romania and Spain).

During the day international teams had presented the schools and homes energy audits. As findings highlighted the importance of insulation in the walls, the use of double glazed windows and the use of biomass boilers in schools. Also stressed the great savings achieved by turning off lights and computers when not in use thus achieving up to 30% savings on energy bills.

This project has served to experience a new teaching method on energy issues from the point of view of the active involvement of both students and teachers, as well as to transfer knowledge from one location to others. Meeting of the European project Active Access in Portugal

16th and 17th March in Aveiro (Portugal), the Energy Agency of la Ribera presented the Plan of Activities to promote cycling and walking in the municipality of l'Alcudia in the framework of the meeting of the European project Active Access.

The activities proposed in the project aim to promote walking and cycling to school along the safety roads and enhance walking and cycling to the shops, while promoting local businesses. This project aims to create healthy habits in the public and increase respect for the environment.

II Exhibition of Renewable Energies, Energy Efficiency and Environment of La Ribera

5th, 6th and 7th March took place the second Exhibition of renewable energies of La Ribera, which was celebrated in Guadassuar, where the companies of the energy and environmental sector had the opportunity to spread their activities.

The 2ond edition of the FERER EXHIBITION has been organized by the Energetic Agency of La Ribera together with County Councils of La Ribera Alta and Ribera Baixa and with the collaboration of Guadassuar's Town hall.

This event has as aim to promote the use of renewable energies as the solar, wind power, the biomass and the geothermal energy, to promote the energy efficient technologies, and show the new services of environmental management to the citizenship.

AER was present in an stand giving information of the projects in which we are working and organizing workshops to aware children and general public on renewable energies and environment.
